I have walked by this place a lot during my first couple of months here in London. It looked like one of those classic diners and I was super happy to know that my gut instinct to walk in was on the mark!!!
Walked in to a warm welcome from Beth and a.dude reading is morning coffee. Commented on the classic diner counter and stools.
Didn't take much time to decide on the 2 eggs,bacon,home fries with brown toast. Chatted with another patron about kids and grand kids and lots of free refills on the coffee.
A great neighbourhood stalwart of 30+ years and the food is respectable diner grub. Looking forward to trying the burgers :)
Oh ya! I really wanted to say how amazing people can be. Don't judge a book by its cover. One of the regulars covered my breakfast tab. Really thoughtful and I'll remember to pay it forward next time. -

They say you cannot go back in time. That once gone, that memory is all you have.
The High Lunch experience goes against this theory.
I entered on a quiet lunch to discover the loved stools of my youth. The equipment was original. I ordered a bacon cheeseburg deluxe and it came exactly as I remembered. Leaf lettuce, tomato, perfect slice of onion. Fries were uniformly perfect. Loved watching students come in to order real milkshakes made with ice cream on ancient Hamilton Beach mixers. To sum up, food is great, price is great and the ambience is one not often found any longer.
